STORY
SUBWAE is a curated concept birthed and presented by Christopher Akpo in 2018. Described as Storytelling Unisex Brand With Aesthetic Evolution.
The brand is built on the concept of sustainable materials based in Ghana.
SUBWAE is inspiration driven from architecture, art and its Ghanaian landscape, constantly developing its aesthetic from the continued learning and experimenting of garment making to define its aesthetic.
Sustainability at SUBWAE
At SUBWAE, sustainability is not an afterthought but a foundation of our design philosophy. Since our launch, we have worked to create garments that are both environmentally responsible and culturally meaningful.
Preferred Materials & Dead stock
We prioritise the use of dead stock fabrics and preferred materials such as organic cotton, recycled polyester, and linen. By sourcing in this way, we reduce waste and extend the life cycle of materials already in circulation.
Longevity & Craftsmanship
Every piece is designed with durability in mind, both physically and emotionally. Strong construction methods and timeless silhouettes ensure our clothes remain relevant and wearable across seasons.
Circular Practices
We incorporate circularity by repurposing off-cuts, minimising production waste, and developing initiatives for repair, reuse, and responsible disposal.
Transparency & Community
We are committed to sharing our journey openly with our community, inviting feedback and fostering conversations around sustainable fashion.
This is an ongoing process, and we continue to explore new ways of lowering our impact while staying true to our storytelling vision.
